BINGO! Complimentary or Contrasting?

B.I.N.G.O. For the month of November, I am doing His Birdie's Next Interior Design Bingo!!

Just like Up Lighting, I might get this one wrong. Are white and black contrasting or complimentary colors?

I am pretty sure that the Rustic Modern look of this photo is contrasting.

I love this picture because we own the chair on the right, and I think black (while a basic) is a bold color/design choice.

BINGO! Shabby Chic

B.I.N.G.O. For the month of November, I am doing His Birdie's Next Interior Design Bingo!!

So I have to be honest, Mr. Spice pretty much hates anything Shabby Chic, so out of necessity, I've kinda cut that style out of my life. That said, I have a feeling that I could get him on board with this Shabby Chic-esque Laundry Room.

I would LOVE to do laundry here.

I meant, who wouldn't?? Marble. A Farmhouse Sink!! For me, it's the soft colors that make it Shabby Chic-esque. Anyway you slice it, it's gorgeous.

So I may get this His Birdie's Next Interior Design Bingo Challenge one wrong. Not sure if this is considered Up Lighting, but one thing I can tell you for sure- Mr. Spice and I LOVE Sky Lights (light from up above), color and I am addicted to lots and lots of light in a main room!

BINGO! Vintage Kitchen

Hi Lovelies, I can't believe it is already November 3rd, which has been really hard to process since we are still getting summer weather. Well, actually, starting today it should finally turn into Fall.

Enough about the weather- I am already three days behind on His Birdie's Next Interior Design Bingo Challenge!! Here's the gig, Ali created an awesome Interior Design BINGO board for design inspiration and all month long I am going to try to find inspiration that matches the board.

Pinterest Challange: Pendant Light!!

Last week two of my favorite blogs, Young House Love and Bower Power, issued a challenge. A Pinterest Challenge that is!!

For the last few months, I have wanted to replace our Ikea light in the corner of our living room:

I've had my eye on making myself a string pendant light.

Here's my Pinterest Inspiration:

And with a few simple supplies:

I took on the challenge.

Basically, I Mod Podged the hell out of the string and wrapped it around the beach ball. This was super messy and took a couple hours, while I watched a marathon session of HGTV.

I let it dry for 24 hours:

And then spent another couple hours using a seam riper puncturing and seperating the beach ball from the string and then trying to remove the excess glue from in between the strings.

Like I said, I may have gone WAY over board with the Mod Podge.

Then I cut a hole in my string pendant, and used my old Ikea hanging light to hang up my new light:

So for less than $25 and about 4 hours of time, we have a new light:

I admit, I wish it was a bit bigger, but maybe, just maybe, I'll get some colored string and do a second one, like this pinterest pic:
