Did you learn anything new about me? What about you? What makes you run late?
We spent the weekend with two of our VERY favorite people- our Niece and Nephew. It was pouring rain the entire time. Pouring. Buckets. But it looks like spring has sprung.
The sun is out. I am off to get some much needed Vitamin D.
*Has anyone ever been to the Salvador Dali Museum in Spain. It's madness. Seriously, the craziest place I've ever been. In fact, I think Salvador Dali and Lady GaGa would have been friends?!
Hi Lovelies, recovering from a great weekend with Mr. Spice, but I am constantly finding myself thinking of the people in Japan. Their lives are changed forever, and it's just another reminder that we all need to be prepared.
We seriously thought that we were going to get a fat tax return this year. And in hopes of that tax return, we had already figured out how we were going to spend the money:
A Sofa. Preferably a sectional: This Gus Sectional is totally out of budget, pre and post bad news.
We also recently fell in love with this little number from Room Service:
It was featured on Emily Henderson's Secret's of a Stylist and both Mr. Spice and I had a moment when it came on screen. Couch awesomeness: At only $1995, it was within our 'budget'. And with those wood sides, the Cats Claws would be staying far far away.
Well, the dreams of a couch or sectional are now in the past, and my Credit Card is safely locked away at home. All that said, here's another shout out to Emily's blog, if you want to really know the awesomeness of being a stylist, follow her.
Anyone else have a problem of spending money before you have it?
I am not Catholic, but every now and then I decide that giving something up wouldn't be a bad idea. In 2004, I gave up meat, and I didn't eat any meat (other than fish) again until the Great Burger of 2006. Last year I tried to give up candy during work hours. I think I lasted about 30 days.
This year Lent is apart of my Go Big or Go Home 2011 Plan of Action, remember this?:
You see, we received some upsetting news yesterday. We owe BIG on our Taxes- both to the Feds and the State. The only thing we can figure out is that I must have messed up my tax form in 2009 when I went from Single to Married. URG.
I can't tell you how much this sucks. The fat return we got last year is going directly back to the government this year plus some.
So, in honor of Lent and Go Big or Go Home 2011, I am giving up my Credit Card. Hopefully, for good. I've made great strides this year to get it paid off, but every now and the I use it 'just in case.' Now, I want it to going away. Far far away. All Credit Cards (yes, I have multiple), will now be left securely at home at all times.
Wish me luck. Has anyone ever frozen a Credit Card??
Or if you really want, send cash. Just kidding, kinda.
I haven't shown anyone our Kitchen since day two of this blog. Talk about white baby!!
This has to be mid-move in with the old Kitchen table:
Here it is today, as you enter you see the new kitchen table with our wedding collage above it:
Which is next to the important stuff, the coffee. There is also a small board to display invites to weddings, baby showers, etc:
Yes, I have three cake plates. Love them.
Where my cooking magic (hahaha) happens. More importantly where my awesome green Kitchen Aid lives:
And finally, where Mr. Spice spends hours cleaning up after I make a mess of dinner:
Crisp white with bits of green, looks better than the white on white before right?
So folks, that's about it. It's far from my dream kitchen with a farmhouse sink, marble counter tops, a full size oven and fridge, but for now it's pretty functional. I have a dishwasher and I love the green and white.
Do you have your dream kitchen, or are you making do?
It's funny. I share a lot on this blog, but surprisingly, I haven't shared pictures of our entire apartment. Which is a bit crazy since it's so small.
Well, now that it's March and the great purge is over. Here are a few pictures of our living room, before, during and after the great purge.
Here's the room pre-move in to the South, which should look the most familiar:
And here it is today:
The right side of our reading nook, where I finally hung our Ork Poster:
Huck hanging out to the left:
With an up close of one of my latest DIY- painting a $3.59 frame from Good Will black with a photo that I recently won at an auction, plus I just recently framed one of my Golden Gate Bridge pics:
Now a less familiar look at our living room looking North:
And here's a never before seen picture of this room last year.
Notice the brown, on brown, on brown. With the MESS of cables in the corner. URG.
I hated that mess for 1.5 years
As part of the Great Purge, Mr. Spice got rid of all those wires by changing our internet access. So here's Mr. Spice and Huck on Sunday in their usual positions, taking a much deserved break on our beat up condo couch:
Look at how much cleaner that corner looks. And did you notice that MONTHS ago I painted the coffee table. I would have blogged about it, but honestly, I didn't do that great of a job with it, so I couldn't really properly post how to do it.
Oh and looking to the right, I even started to de-browned the TV stand:
Swoon. Hugh Grant. My long term goal is to a paint this piece a high gloss gray- I've even bought the paint.
Moving on.. The never before seen 'office' bookcase with my amazing SF picture hanging above. Too bad it looks a bit small here:
You can finally see this book case since our old desk is now the Kitchen table. So the 'empty' space is currently a psydo bench (see the new shredder to the left):
And yes, we have a wall o'Huck in our house. Check out his book here.
So here's the big news- if we are lucky (aka we get a great tax return like we got last year), we are getting a new Sectional Couch!! Whoot whoot. I told you I had big plans for the 'empty' space in our living room!!
But more on that next time. I hope you enjoyed some never before seen pictures of our living room with updates from The Great Purge. Check back tomorrow for a tour of our kitchen.
I was going to post pictures of our living room today, but I realized that I had to introduce you to something first.
You'll know how much I LOVE San Francisco. Seriously, it's in my bones. I love it.
Part of my love stems from my very first apartment in the City. I met Mr. Spice while living in that apartment, and two of my favorite people lived with me in that apartment.
My favorite photo of my favorite City was taken from the roof of our old apartment by a friend (whose name escapes me right now. ekk).
Well, here it is: Yep. I used to see this view every day.
One. Amazing. City.
