I found myself debating with a co-worker about the passage of the recent heath care legislation. We weren't debating the bill itself- but the attitude we had regarding the bill. We both admitted that neither of us knew each and every point about the bill, but she readily admitted that with all the unknowns she's decided to turn against it, and view the passage of the bill as a negative.
I felt deflated.
I decided right then and there that I would view it as a positive step. Time will tell if it's the step in the right direction, but it's change.
And then again tonight, the news focused on all the negative energy that the Republican Party is aiming towards members of the Democratic Party that voted for the bill. The death threats. The violence. The hatred towards the democratic process. The misleading representation by supposed 'news' organizations.
I felt deflated.
And finally, I was given a bit of inspiration. I was reminded of the change that this country is capable of. A change that this country voted for. A change that I voted for a year and a half ago. Last November, I was moved. Moved by the thought that 'we can.' I don't care what your political stance is, but in my book, I'd rather be inspired by change and the positive than anger, violence, and hatred.
So instead of saying Hell No We Can't.
I am reminded to say that, Yes We Can.
And yes, it is a big f-ing deal!

We finally watched Michael Moore's Sicko last night, and I have to say that even though I don't know each point on the bill, I believe we are moving in the right direction. It's just the beginning, and one we've needed for a long time.
This may sound a little dramatic, but all the negative energy around the health care issue is literally making me feel sick. I have all sorts of Facebook "associates" joining groups like One Big A$$ Mistake America and some random number Against the Health Care Bill, etc. One person even called it one of the most "disgusting days in American history." It's seriously stressing me out.
