I have beyond mixed feelings about Ikea- (A) big box store full of cheap crap? Or (B) great place to get affordable and stylish stuff?
Well, photographer Per Gunnersson pretty much blows choice A out of the water!
What are you thoughts in Ikea; come on- everyone has an opinion??

Some stuff is awesome (Poang chair, the plastic chair with the name I can't remember that we LOVE, some of the curtains, all of the glass ware). Some stuff, not so much (most of the furniture). Some is great depending on your use (Expedit bookcase: I love, my husband hates).
Like anything else, I guess, it depends.
I love the way I can go into the store and see different products put together in ways I wouldn't have envisioned on my own. Even if I don't like the quality of the product after checking it out in person, I still can take the idea and try to find something similar elsewhere. Quality wise, you can usually tell based on the floor models whether it's something that will last long term.
I pretty much consider IKEA mecca. It's somewhere I get to go very infrequently, but when I do, watch out! :)
Wow those rooms are so well stylized. I definitely think Ikea can go both ways depending on how you set things up. Also, I've found the lasting quality isn't the best. Especially if you are moving a lot, but it was our go to when we got married.
There's honestly nowhere better if you're just starting out, unless you have a real gift for thrifting, which I seriously don't. I do feel a little icky at times though - we have some Parisian photos that came as a set, and some days I adore them, but others I find them horribly contrived!
When setting up a long-term home, I'm not so sure - I like old, worn-in and comfy, and Ikea furniture doesn't wear in so well.
@Michelle - totally agree re moving - our wardrobe needs a new back every time you take it apart!
Ikea kitchens and shelving--awesome.
Ikea napkins and candles-beautiful and inexpensive.
Ikea furniture-some is crap, some is great. All of it is at its very best in one home, as in, don't move it!
i heart ikea, only because of the meatballs and princess cake in the food area! Otherwise I think their furniture is rather hit or miss, but great for those with a small budget. :)
I think it could go either way. The items made of good plastic or wood are awesome and last a long time. The stuff made of particle board I could do without. We have a few tables we love. I also like that they have cheap accessories you can dress spaces up with for fairly cheap.
Cupcake Brookie has a cute office chair from Ikea. When I read her post I thought "oh cute, but i wonder if its cheapy in person." Then i went to Ikea and saw it and it's fantastic. I love Ikea.
I think that Ikea, like a lot of stores, has some great deals and awesome pieces, and some of it you can find better quality for the same price, elsewhere. We're getting our crib mattress from Ikea, though, because Scandinavian (in Canada Ikea, not USA stores) regulations are much stricter in terms of the chemicals and fire retardants used (i.e. they're banned). So, for some things, I love it!
