I am knee deep in Thanksgiving Day recipes, Holiday Decorating and doing some awesome Style Boards.
I realize that I am using some amazing inspiration that I've gleaned from other awesome bloggers over the years, and that I should take a moment to share my favorite DIY Blog posts. I hope someone out there can use these posts to help spiff up a room for the holidays.
First, a few ways to fancy up that old dresser you have sitting around.
And Kate at Censational Girl did a really fancy pants version right here:
Of course, the masters at Young House Love (I used this as inspiration for my own project that I've yet to post about- bad blogger) did an awesome redo of a Craigslist dresser for their nursery:
Moving on to curtains. I've discovered two rules, whereever you can (1) curtains should be floor length and (2) the higher you hang them, the taller a room will feel. Personally, every window in our house (except the one in the bathroom- cause that would be weird) is covered with an Ikea Shear. So cheap and easy. Speaking of cheap and easy- check out this AWESOME curtain update from High Heeled Foot in the Door. LOVE the added pop of color:
Finally, dresser tops. I knew the rule of odds (grouping things in odd numbers looks the best) but I didn't know the whole height ratio aspect thing, but now that I've done it, it totally works. Check out Kate from two BowerPower's post: And here is how I tried to put her words of advice in action at the Sugar & Spice household:
Whew, that as a lot of DIY inspiration. I really hope this helps some of you my lovely readers. And please, let me know if you try out any of these fancy pants ideas. Ok, now that you know where my inspiration comes from.... more style boards.
Love this couch: Personally, I think I am too fickle to use color on a piece of furniture- unless it is amazingly fantastic- which the above couch kinda is. It's been a year and I am already excited to switch up the colors in our living room.
So throwing the question out to you: Would you rather decorate your space with one statement piece in a POP color or would you rather change it up with colorful accessories? Discuss.
While I am out basking in the unbelievably hot weather, why don't you enjoy this divine living room/patio that was on the cover of an Australian Magazine called Belle, but introduced to me by Desire to Inspire. Wish I was there:
And speaking of inspiration from Desire to Inspire, check out Huck and Ferris on Pets on Furniture.
What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?
Happy Friday Lovelies. Sorry for such the downer post yesterday. I've been saving this bit of inspiration for just such an occasion: A bright, happy weekend.
Don't you just love it. Susan Gilmore is the amazing photographer of this pic. Hot pink and bright yellow, who knew?
I hope you all have fantastic weekends. I hope to spend most of it at home with Mr. Spice. Ekk. I am so excited. Until Monday.
Hey Lovely Readers, I am alive, but struggling through the week. A four hour delay in Houston on our way back from Kansas on Sunday has left me beyond exhausted. Since I just can't get sleeping off the brain, I thought I'd post a pic of one of my favorite bedrooms of the moment...
Source. Who knew I was so into farmhouse chic, but I love that barn door in the house- almost as much as I love farmhouse sinks. I guess I am not as much of a City girl as I thought- ekk.
Would you not die to have shoe storage like that? I would.
