So this baby is going to need stuff- apparently, a lot of stuff.
The good news is that we are/have been getting a lot of free stuff from friends with older babies!! Awesome.
I'd write a review on all the items that we are getting and/or registering for, but I am pretty sure that we'd all appreciate it if I wait until I have the baby and try the stuff out before I review it.
One item that I am almost positive that we are going to have to buy on our own. Cloth Diapers. Yep, no surprise that this eco-friendly Mom-to-be is going to try the cloth diaper route.
I say try- because I am 100% of the opinion that if something doesn't work with the baby- well, plans change- and we're just going to try our best. (at least that is what everyone keeps telling me).
Since we don't have a washer/dryer in our apartment, my Cloth Diapering requirements are a bit apartment living specific. Here's what I am looking for in a cloth diaper:
1. Minimal wash.
2. Minimal price.
Both one and two have made me realize that All in One diapers are out. And that I want a one size fits all diaper- rather than investing is different sizes.
3. Ability to use disposables- aka, I realize that sometimes I'll be on the go and want to use a disposable rather than a cloth insert. I realize I am eco-conscience, not eco-perfect.
4. Good ratings from other Moms.
What I've decided on: the bumGenius Flip Diaper Snap System.
I think all in all it should cost us about $250 to get a whole system set up.
I will say that I am worried about the snap system. And I am not sure if I am going to use reusable or disposable wipes (again, eco-friendly not eco-perfect). I am also not going to invest in newborn size cloth diapers- so until this little Baby Berry is 10-ish pounds- we'll be investing in some disposables.
BUT I can't knock it until I try it.
I'll get back to you'll in 6 months or so.
